Last year's winner Probst faces Olympic athlete and U20 European Champion

The men's 1500 meters promises to be thrilling at the Sparkassen Indoor Meeting Dortmund on February 8, 2026: Over 7½ laps in the Helmut-Körnig-Halle, a strong international field will compete – including Olympic athletes, international medalists, and young athletes who have already achieved times in the range of 3:33 to 3:35 minutes.

At the top of the entry list is Håkon Moe Berg (Norway). The two-time U20 European champion arrives with an outstanding personal best of 3:30.28 minutes and has already proven his indoor strength this winter with a time of 3:34.32 minutes in the 1500 meters at the meeting in Stockholm, taking the top spot in the current world rankings.

There is also a particular focus on the duel between two Paris 2024 Olympic athletes: Luke McCann (Ireland) and Marius Probst (TV Wattenscheid 01). McCann has a 1500-meter best time of 3:33.66 minutes and also holds the Irish record over 1000 meters. Marius Probst, former U23 European champion, multiple German indoor champion and last year's winner at the Sparkassen Indoor Meeting, has already run 3:34.54 minutes and has been one of the defining figures in German middle-distance running for years.

Filip Sasínek (Czechia) is also an international-class athlete: the 2017 European Indoor Championships bronze medalist is just as at home in fast indoor races as he is outdoors – with a time of 3:34.30 minutes and a national indoor record of 3:36.53 minutes. Noah Baltus adds further quality to the field – the two-time Dutch champion has a personal best of 3:34.66 minutes over 1500 meters. One of the most exciting young talents in the field is Elliot Vermeulen (Belgium): last year's U20 European bronze medalist has a strong personal best of 3:33.51 minutes and represents the new generation of European middle-distance runners.

Other starters in the 1500 meters: Marvin Heinrich (Eintracht Frankfurt), Robin Müller (LV Gothaer Land), Youssef Boutayeb (France), Jan Dillemuth, Louis Buschbeck (both Königsteiner LV) and Ömer Faruk Bozdağ (Turkey).
